Sandra Sing Fernandes is founder and Creative Director of PHABRIK and her career spans the globe. She has developed products and designs for the global market, designed commercial and residential projects internationally, as well she has worked with fashion photographers such as Mario Sorenti, musicians such as Prince and Herbie Hancock, print media such as Entertainment Weekly and Rolling Stones Magazine.
Dialogue is at the core of Fernandes philosophy. “It’s a conversation with the material as much as with the space, the clients and my collaborators,” she remarks.
She quickly recognised local talent and called upon master crafts persons with specific expertise to undertake commissions, as well as rapidly modifying her usual techniques in order to work with new artists and craft people. Through active listening, Sandra is able to work with her clients’ wishes and develop the means to produce a functional and beautiful environment while taking into account specific projects’ financial aspects.
This aptitude for dialogue has long produced a chain reaction, enabling Sandra to develop lasting ties with her clients, factories, and artists in many countries.
