“If this were an opera set, the stage direction would read molto strano. The owner, sculptor Sandra Sing, likes to characterize her loft as having a little bit of the past, the present, and the future in it; call it futuristic gothic.
Conceptual artist, sculptor, designer and interior architect, Sandra is the master of her art world, an environment created in her philosophy. That philosophy, ‘a chair you sit it, the wall you look at, the lighting, what you are wearing and how you are feeling’ involve all aspects of life and in that order she shares her creations around the world.
Art is displayed throughout America, Canada and Europe. Her ideas and motivations come from the observation of things she sees and the emotions she carries. However she says: ‘I try to keep my ideas as organic and pure to myself as I possibly can.’ Sandra has a unique combination of talent, intelligence and beauty all contained in one non-ordinary person.
Masterpiece, which could be considered to most as a life size installation is Studio Ze, a truly one-of-a-kind space located in the heart of Soho, NY. after a chemical combination of protons whose energy cannot be contained, Sandra Sing is the person whose energy and talent created this one-of-a-kind, glamorous place, where, as soon as you walk through the door, you are immediately transported into another realm.
This amazing gallery hosts an array of impeccably authentic masterpieces: metal furniture, paintings and sculptures. Curved metal walls create multileveled spaces and passageways; textured walls are worked with fresco and exhibit hangings, candelabras and other works of art which take you on an adventure into an alternative universe. The lower level of the studio has an ultramodern, industrial feel that is emphasized with shaped bronze and steel furnishings, while the more intimate second floor, accessed by a spiral staircase, seduces you with Moroccan-inspired velvet furnishings and rich purple-and-crimson draperies, lit by candles and deep red light.
Ze has been host to photography shoots and special events for some of the most influential and respected name in the entertainment and fashion industries.
Calvin Klein Jeans used the studio for a gothic feast, while a record label went for an Arabian Nights theme. Other big names include MTV, Warner Brothers, MCA Records and Diesel Jeans. Advertising campaigns for Wella Corp., CD covers for Real McCoy and Rodney Kendrick, photography for Accessories Magazine, Rolling Stone, and Entertainment Weekly are also just a sample of her clientele.defined or confined to her studio alone, Sandra has recently become involved in film directing. Her previous experience in modelling, acting, and dance have allowed her to understand what it takes to become successful ‘in the business’. Her current script is semi-autobiographical, depicting diverse images of women, the psychology of human beings and social prejudices.real-life or a ballade sung by a beautiful princess, the lady of her castle will continue to weave the songs of her dreams to ever last.
Magazine sculptor Sandra Sing creates futuristic heavy metal furniture out of soldered, melded and fused iron, with weathered street grate and brushed surfaces that feel stern and hard-edged yet are organic in their body-conscious forms. ‘The place from which it all emirates has always been the domain of form through sculpture’, she says. Her design space, Studio Ze, sells these menacing-looking chairs, tall standing candlesticks, and tables, as well as her own line of jewellery, which is a scaled down version of cyber-punk-styled furniture. Although the razor sharp right angles and industrial tone of her pieces appears wickedly stylish a la The Terminator, the chairs are actually very comfortable.
Sing boldly stomps along the precious line between art and function, both of which the work encompasses with daring conviction. Available at Studio Ze.”
